Welcome to the Building Inspection Guide. This site is presented as a resource for the inspection, maintenance and improvement of buildings.

Beyond geographic locations, beyond environmental features and beyond our cultural traditions, we all have in common, the inhabitation of buildings for personal, business, recreational and social uses and the buildings need to serve us. We need to ensure they function correctly.

On these pages, you will find the information in each section accompanied by photos and/or drawings for easy identification of features, components and parts of buildings.

During the next few months, tutorials will be added on the common conditions found in most residences, apartment buildings, industrial and commercial buildings.

Also, a discussion forum will be added for you to bring your own views, ideas and even your projects.

Check the Table of Contents and Subject Index to find a specific subject. And when you return, check the What's New? link.

As of the 24th of August 2001, there where already 849 digital photos on this site.

Some of the subjects are still in French, but the digital photos taken during building and home inspections are bilingual.
